I have been saying I should start a blog to help keep myself on task and maybe help or encourage a few others along the way so here is my attempt. Please bear with me because I have never done anything like this before.
Ok let me start by telling you a little bit about myself. I am a father of two a son and a daughter; who has four children three boys and a girl. I have been married for 32 years as of Nov 2015. I have had a weight problem for at least the last 22 years and have tried multiple times to lose and failed miserably every time. It was not until I joined this awesome site and this wonderful group of people that 9 had any success. I had pretty much resigned myself the fact that nothing would work and it was all genetic.
Now onto what prompted me to try this app out. I had downloaded it in 2014 but didn’t understand it and didn’t get the logging concept or even realize it was meant to be a social app so I soon got discouraged and stopped using it and deleted it. In March of 2015 I was involved in a lift truck accident at work and had to go for physio. The machine I was driving got rear-ended while I was at a stop sign and because we stand sideways on them I twisted my back. The machine I was on weighed 5000 pounds and the impact pushed it ahead 20 feet so it was a significant blow.
While I was a physio they had me doing core and back strengthening exercises to help take the pressure off the spine and I noticed that scale was going down so 8 got thinking maybe this will work so I decided to try it again. I redownloaded MFP and started playing around with it and started to try and make friends once I realized it was an active community. The gym room manager at the rehabilitation place I was going too used to be a personal trainer so I started asking h8m for tips while I was doing the rehab activities and he helped with some suggestions. I mentioned MFP to him and he told me he uses it too and that he used to have a big weight problem, but you wouldn’t know it from his trim physique, and he wouldn’t be able to keep it off without it. Needless to say that was it I was convinced.
I then did some research on exercise apps and ended up downloading one I really like. I will discuss it in my next blog entry. Thanks for listening to my story and please feel free to comment and let me know how I did.
